Review:

This issue of the Journal of the Geominero Museum Series contains the papers presented at the scientific sessions of the Tenth National Meeting of the Geological Heritage Commission of the Geological Society of Spain, held in Segovia in June 2013. The geoheritage is one of the most modern disciplines of geology and this year marks 20 years since the creation of this Commission. Since then they have held 10 national meetings and in the latter there have been 66 papers divided into six topics: 1, Geotourism and local development: parks, Geoparks, routes and guides; 2 Geoconservation, 3, Experiences and management proposals about geoheritage, 4, Inventory, cataloging and assessment of geoheritage, 5, the geoheritage in education and outreach and 6, Moveable geoheritage. These contributions show the importance of basic research and methodology, but especially manifest opening of geoheritage to the XXI century society, taking on a new dimension as a resource of first order. The future is promising and opens up a whole range of possibilities, at the confluence of specialists from multiple disciplines ranging from the Earth sciences, management and territorial planning, legislation, education, leisure, tourism, social volunteering and new technologies that will make increasing use geoheritage for economic and social development.
