Spain is a unique country that stands out, among many other things, for its geological natural heritage. In this sense, the Spanish caves are a treasure trove in quantity and quality, as few nations can, to that extent, boast of possessing. The Association of Spanish Tourist Caves groups within it open to the public from all corners of Spain where there is an underground cavities heritage. Missions of the Association are to preserve the caves and show visitors that they are close, thus facilitating the general public know and enjoy them. The Geological and Mining Institute of Spain has a long tradition in the study of karst cavities and Spanish. The first catalog of caves in Spain was published by IGME in the nineteenth century; late twentieth edited the Karst map of Spain, scale 1:1,000,000. Now, goes a step further, working with ACTE in the edition of this guide to Spanish tourist caves. The guide contains information on the caves of the Association and its natural, cultural and tourist environments, in order to facilitate its understanding by the general public. Also, this guide is intended to be a rigorous compendium, both scientifically and informative view of the Spanish underground wealth that is displayed in the open to the public belonging to the Association of Spanish Tourist Caves cavities.
