In this book the basic principles and theoretical aspects of the methods of isotope hydrology and its practical applications are developed with some examples. Different sections contain reference material that is sufficient for scientists and engineers working in research and / or practical applications in hydrology as an integral part of research on the acquisition, development and management of water resources. Also serve as "teaching material" or textbook for universities and educational institutions that incorporate the study of "isotopes in the water" of great importance in the Earth Sciences. The text is a translation into Spanish of the book published by UNESCO and the International Atomic Energy Agency, entitled "Environmental isotopes in the hydrological cycle: principles and applications", edited by Dr. W. G. Mook and written by various specialists, has been done to facilitate isotope techniques are applied more extensively to improve and Hydrological Sciences and Techniques to make text available to those hydrologists, experts and stakeholders - Spanish-speaking and Portuguese - and especially those of Latin America. The Geological Survey of Spain, which is the public agency specializing in Earth Science Research, wanted to contribute to this broadcast , financing of translation and editing, thus giving support to the activities of the International Hydrological Programme.
